The registration form:
A learner must complete a registration form for each academic year, in terms of which s/he binds him-/herself to all the rules of the institution.
The content of the form is the basis of the learner’s contract with the institution.
It is the learner’s responsibility to inform the institution of any change/s to personal data contained on the registration form – notably: change in name, address and/or telephone numbers.
Choose modules per Semester/Trimester/Annum:
A learner’s registration per semester and per annum is subject to the maximum number of NQF (National Qualifications Framework) credits as set out in the Admission Policy.
A learner may not register for a module for which s/he has not passed the prerequisite.
Learners must register for prescribed co-requisite modules simultaneously.
Learners may register concurrently for formal and non-formal qualifications at the institution, with the consent of the institutions involved.
FEES AND CHARGES
The fees payable and the manner in which fees must be paid are determined by the Management of the Institution, and are set out in the Institution policy at Gateway City College.
Payment must be made in terms of the modes set by the institution. The adoption of any alternate payment method which is dishonoured by the financial institution, will result in the fees being deemed to have not been paid and will result in the affected learner’s registration being automatically cancelled.
A learner who owes a financial debt to the institution, or has not returned institution property that has been loaned to him/her, shall not be provided with a Certificate of Conduct or any proof of learning achievement by the institution.
MODE OF INSTRUCTION AND LANGUAGE POLICY
Gateway City College primarily provides learning in English. Other official language are utilised when deem necessary, according to the preference of the learner. As approved by the Director, specific modules are offered in English only. In qualifications comprising the learning of the language, learning may be offered only in the language of the module that is being taught, after the approval by the Director. All assessment, except for assessments in a module, will be presented in English. The Director may approve another language for assessment purposes in accordance with the Language Policy of the institution.
ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING
At the discretion of Director an assessment may be written, oral or both written and oral, it may include practical work. The institution may at its discretion require learner to take a further or additional oral or written assessment. Where there is a prescribed practical assessment, the procedures and venues for practical assessments will be set out at the workplace. The institution publishes the assessment results only after the result are signed off by the Director of the institution.
